Adoption Process

Adopting an animal is an important decision that will affect you, your household, and your pet for many years to come. When you come to Whisker City to look for a pet, we provide you with all of the information that we know about each kitty. Please plan on spending enough time with the kitty to be sure that you are making the right selection.

Once you have decided on a kitty, the adoption room staff will provide you with an Adoption Application. Our counselors will then review this information with you, and if the adoption is approved, we provide you with information on training, health, and basic humane care. Of course, we will also answer any additional questions you may have.

You can get a head-start on the adoption process by downloading the Adoption Application below and completing it before coming in:

> ADOPTION APPLICATION  <
Adoption Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Please bring two forms of identification. A government issued photo ID (driver's license, state identification card, military ID, etc.) and proof of current address. (A telephone, utility or cable television bill qualifies.)
  • Renters must provide their landlord’s name and phone number, or a copy of the lease
  • All adult members of the household should be present or in agreement with the selection
  • Your completed adoption paperwork

Adoption Donations:
Kittens $125
Adult Cats $95

Each adopted cat is:
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Current on vaccinations (including rabies- with exception to young kittens)
  • Treated for fleas
  • Dewormed

* It is best to view our pets in person because we can't guarantee that specific animals listed on our website will still be available by the time you visit our shelter. We are unable to hold animals by phone, fax or email.

* NOTE: All adoption applications are subject to approval by an Adoption Advisor.  All cats must leave in a pet carrier for their safety.
