WHISKER CITY GOLF TOURNAMENT!

Thanks to our good friends at Beer Church, Whisker City will be the beneficiary of a golf tournament on August 16th. Sign up and bring your friends for a good time and a good cause as we raise money for our shelter. The golf tournament will be held on Sunday, August 16th at the Nile Golf Club in Mountlake Terrace. The 4-person scramble will have a 1:30 shotgun start. Cost is just $95.00 and includes greens fee, power cart, dinner, tee prizes and raffle ticket. Space is limited, so to register online, visit www.beerchurch.com and look for “Upcoming Events” on their home page. The golf tournament is sponsored by Jersey’s Great Food and Spirts in Shoreline. For more information, call 206-235-4698.

CAT CORNER

This is Barbri, who has been at Whisker City for about four months. He was surrendered by his owners to another local shelter where overcrowding had become a serious problem, so Whisker City took him in.

This handsome fella is 11 years old. He is a large brown tabby male that is healthy, neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his shots. Barbri is very affecionate and would make a good lap cat. He has very good litter box habits and loves to be petted. Barbri does well with people ages 13 & up but doesn't get along with dogs. He seems to tolerate other cats but would flourish as an only pet. If you'd like to find out more about Barbri, call Whisker City at 206-542-0947 Tuesday-Saturday from 9am-5pm.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

The 2nd annual Cat-a-lyst Award was handed out at Whisker City’s Sacred Cat Ball fundraiser in April. This year’s winner was Jan Nelson, who took on the role of volunteer coordinator in 2008. Jan has come to the rescue on numerous occasions for Whisker City. In addition to coordinating 30 volunteers, Jan has personally worked fundraisers, generated donations, created signage, secured workers during construction of our new shelter and attends our weekly staff meetings. Whisker City wouldn’t be the same without her, so thank you again Jan Nelson!

END OF THE SUMMER CONCERT!

At the Sacred Cat Ball in April, attendees were treated to a rousing performance by Shelly and the Curves. They were also given the opportunity to purchase a ticket to the End of the Summer Concert, which will be held on Sunday, September 13th at Whisker City in Shoreline. We’ve created room for more people to attend, so you too are invited! Cost is $50.00 and includes food, drink and live music from the band. For more information, call April at 206-542-9617.
